God is near!!!!!!

Hi everyone!
Its Shailynn. I just wanted to share my heart about how God answered my prayers this year and how I realized how much God works in mysterious ways through out my life. My dad (Mark) and I didn't realize that we had a chance to go to Uganda until April. I know now that God had put a passion in my heart to go minister to the people in Uganda before April, but made it clear to me that He was serious towards the end of April. When I heard that my friend Jessica was going, I was excited for her but never expected to go also. When one night at the dinner table, I mentioned how Jessica was going to Uganda and how I wanted to tag along (expecting them to say no). But God changed my dads heart completely!! I hardly remember what happened next. It was buying tickets, getting passports, making lists of what to buy, praying for guidance, and hundreds of other things that kept us on our toes. But after a while I just stopped and thought of the school year, and how my country report for history, was about Uganda. And how in bible class we learned about the poverty in 3rd world county's like Uganda. It hit me that God taught me about Uganda without me knowing about it!! God really does work in mysterious ways.

Preparation

At the request of my daughter Shailynn we are creating a blog so we can share our tip to Uganda with our friends and family. You may wonder how it came about that my daughter Shailynn and I came to sign on to a missions trip to Uganda. Earlier this year Virgil and Joy Ricks from Say Yes Internation brought a Ugandan Pastor to our mid week home group to speak. At the end I asked Virgil where are the pictures and videos? I could not for the life of me envision Pastor Jonah's home with 49 children in it. After letting Virgil know that I do videography on the side, he invited me to go with him on his next trip. I told him that I would think about it and we parted ways after the evening. Several months later Shailynn received a phone call from her close friend Jessica and found out that she was going to Uganda with her father Kevin. Shailynn turned to me and asked if we could also go. Her jaw nearly hit the floor when I replied that perhaps we could go with them. The rest is history.
